Our Residential Paving Process
Every driveway is different, but the fundamentals of a job that lasts don't change. We start with a walkthrough to assess your existing driveway, drainage, and grading. From there:
Excavation and grading — removing old, failing asphalt where needed and
shaping the base so water drains away from your home instead of pooling.
Base preparation — a properly compacted stone base is what keeps a
driveway from cracking and heaving through Pennsylvania's freeze-thaw winters.
Asphalt installation — hot asphalt laid and screeded to the right
thickness and slope for your driveway's specific layout.
Rolling and compaction — proper density is what separates a driveway
that lasts 20+ years from one that starts breaking up in five.
New asphalt is generally safe for foot traffic within 24–48 hours and light vehicle traffic within a few days, though full curing takes longer — see our FAQ page for more on curing and timing.
Types of Residential Driveway Work We Do
New driveway installation — for new construction or replacing a
driveway that's beyond repair.
Full driveway replacement — removing an existing driveway down to the
base and starting fresh.
Asphalt resurfacing (overlay) — a new layer of asphalt over a driveway
that's structurally sound but worn, faded, or lightly cracked.
Repair — patching potholes, sealing cracks before they spread, and
fixing drainage or edge damage.
We don't apply or reapply asphalt sealer ourselves, but we're happy to recommend trusted local contractors who do once your new driveway has fully cured.
